Dogwood Apple

What plants look good with what I have already planted?

I live in Southern Michigan. I recently purchased a house and planted a few flowering crab apple trees, eastern redbud trees, flowering bradford pear trees and a dogwood. As for plants I have three rose shrub bushes with white flowers and about 12 hostas green with white edges. I just laid down a nice medium colored brown mulch. Okay....what plants would look good with these trees and hostas? I like some color just not every color of the rain bow and I want it to be easy. Most likely perenials.

Wow! Your yard sounds beautiful! I'm a huge fan of perennials and if you have the right light, you could try planting Astillbe (many colors). It really looks best en masse in a huge plot or in clumps of odd numbers. If you like spiky/tall plants, you could also try perennial Salvia (purplish and bluish), Echinacea (many colors and shades), Veronica (Speedwell)-, Lavender, Russian Sage (bluish)...

Helleborus comes in a variety of shades and grows about 12"-18". They have an antique look to me.

Scotch Broom is a beautiful and bright bush with a Forsythia type growing habit and it comes in a few different color varieties.

Rose of Sharon can grow to be shrubby or like a tree and has beautiful Hisbiscus-like flowers. I've seen flowers in white with a red center, pink with a red center, purplish, and bluish. Bumble Bees will get drunk off of the nectar.
